Do not trust this landlord. He was primarily misogynistic, and he encouraged us to change our lead tenant from a woman to a man, saying he would prefer if we could come to an arrangement and have a "gentleman's agreement". He was also sly regarding the rent price, which was more expensive than anticipated once the year was up. Furthermore, he refused to allow us to give notice a month in advance and illegally evicted us due to "dust on our staircase and under the sofa".

"Forgot" to give me back my deposit. When asked to do repairs, oftentimes says "there's little we can do". However, he's generally a friendly guy, if that's helpful.

Alan can be difficult to get hold of, doesn't always keep to his promises (where's our mop!), and can be panicky about the flat -- in that he tried to show other people around it even after we said we wanted to live there next year, because we hadn't yet filled an empty bedroom (in the week he gave us to do so). That being said, he will pay for new bulbs, will bring and pay for plumbers/electricians etc, and keeps the flat in immaculate condition. I also appreciated getting things sorted early (in December, rather than Feb/March with the usual housing market rush).
